Articulation Drills

What to Expect in an Articulation-Focused Speech Therapy Session

An articulation-focused speech therapy session is designed to help your child improve how clearly they pronounce specific speech sounds. The goal is to increase accuracy and confidence when speaking, both in structured practice and everyday conversation.

What Happens During the Session:

  • Sound Drill Practice:
The core of the session involves focused "drill" work—practicing the target sound(s) through repetition.

  • Motivating Activities: To keep practice fun and engaging, drills are often built into games, crafts, or other age-appropriate activities. These keep your child motivated while ensuring a high number of practice repetitions.

  • Feedback and Correction:
Throughout the session, the therapist provides immediate feedback, gentle correction, and praise to reinforce correct sound production and help shape accurate speech patterns.

Home Practice Guidance: At the end of the session, the therapist will usually review progress and provide a brief, manageable practice activity for you to do at home. These are tailored to your child’s needs and designed to fit easily into your daily routine.
